Every Wednesday @ 7:00 pm

Majors Jim & Michelle, along with the Pastoral Care Prayer Team, are calling The Barrhaven Church to Prayer.

Wherever you are, we are asking you to “STOP & PRAY” for 15 minutes. This may include reading a Psalm from Scripture or meditating on a favourite Bible verse. But, most importantly, we want to pray.  Here is our focus for this week taken from Prayer Ottawa.

Seniors:
Give thanks for all the compassionate, hard work in Seniors’ Residences and Nursing Homes. Thank God for the good things he has done that we don’t see or know about.
Pray for Orleans Promenade Retirement Residence, where two residents have died from Coronavirus, and one other resident has tested positive. All the staff who were tested have received negative test results. Pray that the virus does not spread further.
Lift up Maplewood Retirement Community, Park Place Retirement Residence, Garden Terrace, and Almonte Country Haven, where there are single or multiple confirmed cases. Pray that the virus does not spread further.
Pray for all the seniors in our region, wherever they live:
For miraculous protection;
For comfort in the loneliness of self isolation;
For those who are anxious about Covid-19: for help to stay safe, accurate information, and peace;
For those who are sick in any way: for strength and healing from the Lord;
For those who are very near the end of this life: for compassionate care, and hope in Christ. For someone to minister the love and hope of the gospel to them.
For the many who are strong and active, for wisdom how and when to serve;
For the many Christians, for personal renewal, faithful prayers, opportunities to serve, and to proclaim their faith;
For all those who work to provide safe homes for seniors:
For strength, endurance, wisdom, and lots of grace for each other;
For sufficient supplies, accurate information, and good communication;
For protection from Covid-19;
For safe places to process their stress and emotions;
For encouragement, support from family and friends, and restful sleep;
For Christians in these workplaces to have special grace and leading of the Holy Spirit.
Homeless Shelters:
Pray for the leaders of the shelters on the front lines of caring for and housing some of the city’s most vulnerable population:  Peter Tilley (Ottawa Mission) Deirdre Freiheit (Shepherds of Good Hope) Kia Rainbow (Cornerstone) Mark Provost (Salvation Army).  They have been working collaboratively with Wendy Muckle (Inner City Health) to secure and set up a self isolation centre for people in shelters or homeless that are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
Pray for them to continue to receive the medical protective equipment that they need to protect their staff and their clients.
Pray for these leaders to have wisdom, strength, divine strategies and peace, for their Chaplain services to be strengthened and led by the Holy Spirit,  and for God’s hand to provide the help that each person needs.
We thank God for his protection of shelter residents, staff and community volunteers so far and we ask Him for miraculous protection for every shelter that the virus does not spread through these shelters where hundreds of men and women live in shared rooms with multiple beds.
Thank you for praying for a transformed city.
